COLLECTION & TESTING PROCEDURE

Reditest On-Site Oral screening devices are easy to use! Please follow the simple instructions below.

Onsite Oral Components

NOTE: ALL POSITIVE RESULTS ARE PRESUMPTIVE AND SHOULD BE CONFIRMED BY AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD (e.g. GC/MS)

Instruct the donor not to place anything in the mouth including food, drink, gum or tobacco products for at least ten minutes prior to collection.

STEP 1

Remove the collector from the sealed pouch and insert the sponge end of the collector into mouth.
Step 1

STEP 2

Actively swab the inside of the mouth and tongue to collect oral fluid for a total of 3 minutes until the sponge becomes fully saturated.
Step 2

STEP 3

Gently pressing the sponge between the tongue and teeth will assist saturation. No hard spots should be felt on the sponge when saturated.

STEP 4

Remove the collector from mouth.

STEP 5

Flip open the cap of the collection chamber (do not twist open cap of collection chamber at this time).
Step 5

Place saturated oral fluid collector into chamber and press sponge fully against strainer to collect oral fluid. Discard collector. Snap the cap shut on the collection chamber.

STEP 6

To run test, twist open screw cap of the dropper tip assembly to expose dropper tip.
Step 6

Invert the collection chamber and transfer 3 drops of oral fluid into each sample well of the test device.

Place screw cap back onto collection chamber with remaining oral fluid. Apply security seal over cap.

STEP 7

Place the test device on flat surface. Wait for colored lines to appear.

STEP 8

Read results at 10 minutes. Do not read results after 1 hour.
Step 8

LABORATORY SALIVA DRUG TESTING

If test is positive, apply security seal with barcode. Send bottle and contents to laboratory for confirmation.

Step 9Sending Presumptive Positive Specimens to the laboratory for GC/MS Confirmation*

  1. Perform the on-site test according to the instructions provided above.
  2. Complete an Oral Fluid Drug Test Lab Requisition Form to indicate which presumptive positive drugs you want to confirm through the lab. Make sure the donor signs the form. NOTE: If you wish to document preliminary positives and negatives for your own record, complete a Preliminary Result Form.
  3. Ensure the cap is tightly closed.
  4. Instruct the donor to initial the security seal.
  5. Place the security seal over the top of the chamber as shown (in the donor's presence).
  6. Seal the chamber in a plastic baggie with the absorbent material.
  7. Place the white copy of the Oral Fluid Drug Test Lab Requisition Form (marked "Lab Copy") in the shipping bag (five or more specimens) or the mailer box (fewer than five specimens) with the specimen.
  8. Send to RTL for confirmation.

NOTE: If your account was not set up to include confirmation request forms, please contact your sales representative.

*PLEASE DO NOT SEND NEGATIVE SPECIMENS TO RTL FOR CONFIRMATION. NEGATIVE SPECIMENS WILL NOT BE CONFIRMED.
